Itineraries

Day 1

Ho Chi Minh City: Arrival and day at leisure

When you fly into Ho Chi Minh City, someone will be at the airport to welcome you and help you transfer to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure once you check into the hotel. After that, we do not have any group activities planned. You have the rest of the day to relax or explore on your own. You might consider walking to the nearby attractions, or going to a local market area. Or you might choose to just relax and go to bed early. You can walk to attractions that are covered in our group itinerary or you can just explore on your own. After our tour, we will spend that day down by the waterfront, explore the tourist shops, see the War Museum and go out for dinner at a local place.

Day 2

Ho Chi Minh City: City tour

Experience the Historical Culture with a Full Day City Tour

We will start with breakfast and then a city tour to see the highlights of Ho Chi Minh City. This section of the trip will include the Cathedral of Notre Dame and the Central Post Office, both of which offer good examples of French-colonial architecture in the city. We will also see the Reunification Palace (the former Presidential Palace of South Vietnam) and the War Remnants Museum - which captures some of the history that makes Vietnam such a rich destination.

In the afternoon, we will travel about 60 kilometers out of the city to finish our City Tour in Cu Chi Tunnels. The day will begin with a short documentary on the tunnels that explains how they were all constructed, and the tunnels' significance as an underground network. Then we will walk through part of the 200 kilometer long tunnel system, which was actually a hidden city with living quarters, hospitals, food storage, and military command posts.

Finally, you will get to sample tea and cassava, as the guerillas did during the war. Then we returned to Ho Chi Minh City to conclude the day's trip for overnight accommodations.

Day 3

Ho Chi Minh City: My Tho, boat trip and Tortoise Island

Discover Local Life and Nature

After a hearty breakfast, it is time to take a beautiful journey to My Tho. Relax on a boat ride along the Bai Dinh natural canal to observe traditional stilt houses and passing fruit orchards (you can also stop in some). Then off to Tortoise Island where a delicious lunch awaits you under the shade of orchard greenery.

As my journey through Cambodia and Vietnam rolls on with Fab Holidays, cruise down the Tan Thach canal in Ben Tre. The huge coconut palms hide the sleek waterways of tropical Ben Tre. At the local family workshop, get a great window into rural family life and family traditions.

Continuing on to Thoi Son Island, take a step forward to explore the tropical fruit farms and row along the crabapple tree-lined canals. After experiencing the tranquil countryside, return to My Tho and drive back to Ho Chi Minh City for your next cozy hotel stay.

Day 4

Siem Reap: Arrival and Angkor Tour

Uncover the Mysteries of Angkor Wat

Once you finish breakfast, it's time to make your way to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Upon arrival, start your amazing adventure of the one and only Angkor temple complex straight from the airport. First, you will visit Angkor Thom, an enormous city-temple created in the 12th century. You will have an opportunity to take photos of the South Gate with the incredible statues of the Churning of the Ocean of Milk.

After visiting the South Gate you will embark on a journey to the impressive Bayon Temple with it's 54 towers and 200+ smiling and serene faces of Buddha. Next continue your visit to the Elephant Terrace, the Terrace of the Leper King and eventually the Royal Enclosure.

In the afternoon, you will be astonished by the superb Angkor Wat, the most famed, largest, and undoubtedly the most beautiful temple in the area! It spans 81-hectares and is the finest example of classical Khmer architecture and art.

After a day of exciting exploration with Fab Holidays, you can relax in the evening with a delicious Khmer Dance Show and dinner. You will stay overnight at the hotel.

To end the day, you will find out more about the history of the Cambodia region through the Preah Khan temple where ancient stone walls gradually transferred into trees, which were overgrown over time. After a culturally rich and adventurous day, you'll ride back to your hotel where you will find peace for a restful overnight stay.
